The moon feels warm
The moon feels warm tonight,
the sun spoke in the morning light,
it keeps making for us
these sounds we love,
you said.
it sounds like the stones call us back
but that’s the danger
you said.
the moonlight doesn’t just glow
it leaves us exposed
we trusted the moon that night
and reflected back that light
The moon feels warm
tonight

Ain’t the short ones always the best. Nicely done.
Mark, you’ve beautifully brought to life the proverb... “All that glitters is not gold.” You show how the moon’s soft, warm light...so alluring and beautiful...can also leave us exposed. In your poem, every allure carries hidden danger, and every beauty its subtle veil, so that the reader feels how attraction and risk are two sides of the same thread. Most strikingly, the poem invites us to trust that light despite its danger...the delicate tension between trust and risk gives every moment its meaning.
