Thank you for reading and your reflection Daniela!
There is something definitely about the rawness of videos and authenticity in stories that connect us to the people, and not the performance that is sometimes shown.
And I can really feel that in your writing — and it's those lived in experiences that resonate and matter most.
Yes, with writing and also with music, that happens to me as well. A song about a real story, or when they are "getting full in" (I need to write some fuzzy English instead of looking up stuff here) so that you infer they'll be winning the contest after a minute.
“Or was that the image of her she’d gotten used to offering?
And if people only ever see that version,
do they see her at all?”
These lines really stood out to me Mark. They capture something meaningful about how we’re seen, or not seen. There’s a real strength in these kinds of questions.
Thank you soo much for your read and reflection Hooks.
That split of how we show up online (but offline too) vs how we really are can get so blurred, e.g. if someone spends all their time performing, big smiles, confidence everywhere, etc but underneath they are fragile, will anyone ever see their true self?
As I sit and ponder and this one I do. I like the quiet under it all that we seem drawn to. It is always calling is it not. Come back to that place, that space, where we set it all down. At least for a moment or two? I just did. Thank you for this compelling piece.
This caught me off guard.
In a good way I hope? 😊
Absolutely
That's why I like authentic stories and unedited videos on LinkedIn.
I also write that way, right from there where I am, what I did.
Only blurring the details to keep them out and leave enough space for what matters most.
