βWhat you called stars were just memories far enough away to look fixed.β
Thereβs something genuinely unsettling and beautiful in the way this keeps dissolving the border between place, memory, and perception. It feels less like reading a descent and more like slowly entering one.
The instruments checking for agreement... I hate when even the ship wants a second opinion from itself... that is such a creepy polite way for reality to start misbehaving.
Something within the external contorted the ship and the biology of the crew β we all had different opinions of ourselves past the point of no return! Glad youβre here Asuka :)
Sorry but with this collaboration, avoiding Space Oddity became mission impossible. Somewhere between Ground Control, Mark and Major Miles, the signal started picking up Bowie in the static. :)))))
This feels less like sci fi and more like two minds disappearing into the same frequency for a while. Some of those lines genuinely gave me chills.

Beautiful, strange, unsettling writing from both of you. πΉ
You caught it in one Gary! Thats what it felt like pinging each other over notes, over a few days. Glad that came through!
Thanks for the great comment π
Amazing relapse and rendering of context β thank you! ππ»

Thank you Antonio. I love how you got caught in the descent itself, rather than reading about it.
A lovely reading of the piece.
The immersion into an unmapped field is definitely an aesthetic, despite what the charts read β thanks for sitting with it Antonio β‘οΈπ―

Haha, yes Asuka! Those ships are always trying to take control :)

Ground Control to Major Miles,
Mark here on the relay line.
Your readings came through clear at first,
then started bending out of time.
We checked the numbers.
Checked again.
The figures all aligned.
Funny how agreement stops
meaning peace of mind.
You say the hull is holding still,
pressure stable, systems green.
But silence has a frequency
and yours has changed between.
Major Miles...
your signal drifts before you speak.
Major Miles...
your echoes reach us every week.
Ground Control to Major Miles,
Mark here. Something isn't right.
We're getting memories in the feed
mixed with telemetry tonight.
Old rooms where no one should have stood.
Names without a face.
Coordinates returning us
to some impossible place.
And now the crew beside me swears
you never left at all.
They say you've always been up there.
They say...
there was no launch.
Major Miles...
I'm watching stars redraw their lines.
Major Miles...
I think your orbit's crossing mine.
Ground Control to Major Miles...
If the crack starts singing...
does it sound
like home?
So wonderful Sara! Excellent!
Ground Control to Commander Sara!
Thereβs space on board!

Love a bit of Bowie!
Donβt we all? :) especially that one.
Yay!
This feels like the conversation on the ship that actually when down & the piece was how the mind bent into a warped reality of thought π
Loved this attachΓ© Sara! We had one on the crew immune to the Zengali pull
Perfectly put Miles!
Glad to have had you on board, so one of us could keep a (small) grip in reality!
