arrival
midnight
slid across the wall
not wanting
to disturb you
a single dust mote
turned
air moved aside
remembering
your shape
i turned
your breath already closer
than before
white pulled
the curtains wide
as you leaned in
our breathing
slowed
to
one
your pulse
on my wrist
opening my hand
knees bending softly
my gaze already
pulled up
a finger
traced my neckline
circling my chin
pausing at my lips
not yet a kiss
i swallow
your finger slows it
still
i look up
my hand still open
looks bare
in the white
now reaching
a gasp
lungs
remembering to breathe
salt lips
swallowing more
light holding
them open
as if to take
my first words
and taste
their shape
your breath
holding mine
air warming
without asking
another gasp
even time
makes space
for the light
still
my gaze follows you
light softening
my breath calming
a warmth
becoming
even silence slowed
nothing
moving
darkness now
pulling light softly back
as if gravity
could hold warmth
