In a departure from my usual Don't Buy Me a Coffee note, there's someone and somewhere I’d love to point your attention to.

Somewhere with smoking guns, tight, almost claustrophobic Gibraltar alleyways, a hip flask, and a man: Jack, searching for meaning and love. And what it truly means to be a gentleman.

She doesn’t have a “Buy Me a Coffee” link, but she does have a Substack — full of what she calls “steamy historical femme scribbling in the shadows”.

I can’t do it the full justice here — just go read it.ㅤ

Here’s the latest piece:

👉 Taken by the Highwayman (Chapter 3, Part 3)

Let yourself be pulled in.

She’ll take it from there, and sometimes it's not just the heat from the guns that are keeping the scenes heated!

I can;t thank you enough for this Mark! So very kind, and I adore this idea of the text awaiting the reader!

"The end of a thread that never really ends". This is how I feel with everything I write.

Thanks Margaret, and I feel that too often. Maybe that’s just how writing goes.

We can ask each other in 5,10, 25 years :)

The pattern:

A winter walk. People at a bus stop. Some noise. Dialog rephrasing.

(Auditorial info for the blind on TV is just that short, by the way.)

Perfect to let the reader guess between the lines.

Example: cutting scene from my own LinkedIn post:

Memories. Snowing a little, getting late. Leaving.

People: „Is that all you brought into here as a jacket?“

Them: saying something kidding

Me: „??!!“ looking at the stuff I took there to keep me warm

Them: maybe shivering a little, not saying though

Interpretation up to the reader…

Thanks Sulaiman. That's exactly right. Have you ever found a moment where starting again felt just like the end of another story?
